East of England Development Agency (EEDA)

EEDA is the Regional Development Agency for the East of England. EEDA's remit is wide and the regional economic strategy shapes the organisation's activity. The goals, priorities and actions it sets out for the East of England provide the focus for all of EEDA's work and inform the programmes and initiatives we support.

EEDA has grown rapidly in its first five years with an agenda that is constantly developing and growing as the government devolves new and varied responsibilities to RDAs. With a budget of £90 million in 2004/5 EEDA's challenge is to deliver sustainable economic growth with a budget that equals only 0.1 per cent of the region's gross domestic product (GDP). To do this EEDA works in collaboration with other regional agencies including EERA, GO-East and Invest East of England and is adopting a new way of working which emphasises a role as a regional leader and catalyst and which will help influence the £25 billion of public spending in the East of England.

EEDA also forms an influential lobbying body, representing the development of the region by being a strong voice for the people and businesses of the East of England.
